Interview with Rock 'n' Needle fashion Label!

This week, I was interviewed by the lovely Kelly Goss, Founder of Rock 'n' Needle Fashion Label

1)How long have you been an illustrator?
I’ve been unofficially illustrating for as long as I can remember, always doodling and decorating things! I started properly in 2004 when I began my degree in Visual Communication and Design, specializing in Illustration.

2)What inspires you?
I get a lot of inspiration from high street fashion and culture and definitely music and performance, as I have a background in this and love going to live events.

3)Why were you interested in Rock 'n' Needle?
I have followed Rock ‘n’ Needle for a little while now and when I saw the advert to work with them I jumped at the chance.  I love clothing with graphics/ illustration and have always wanted to design for an edgy fashion label, so for me, this was the perfect opportunity.

4)What makes a good illustrator?
To me a good illustrator is someone that can listen and translate an idea/ story through visual images.  They have to successfully use expression, colour, body language, type, texture to suit each theme and project and be able to adapt quickly.

5)3 words to describe yourself?
Ambitious, Quirky, Versatile

6)Who is your style icon?
It constantly changes month to month, I’ve never really had one person that I follow.  I do like Rihanna’s current style- rock with a girly twist and Fearne Cotton always looks cool.  I like people who can blend styles and reinvent themselves.

7)One item in your wardrobe you couldn't live without?
Definitely my black blazer! It comes out time and time again and can be dressed up and down for any occasion and looks great with a graphic t-shirt and jeans!

8)What has been your best moment of working with Rock 'n' Needle so far?
It has to be seeing the professional photos of my illustrations on the models, felt really proud and was good to see it all coming together so well.

Rock n Needle New Collection launched 14th February!

Over the last few months I have had the pleasure of producing Illustrations for the lovely Kelly Goss, owner of the Rock n Needle clothing line.  It's been great working with her.
When I saw this advertised I jumped at the chance and felt my style would suit this project.

I've really enjoyed the whole process from sketching up and completing the designs to working with designs already in place.  All in all it's been great for furthering my skills and a fantastic opportunity as I love designing for fashion!
These pics are from a collection of 25 pieces that will be showcased over the next few weeks.  The new collection is launched on Valentines day.  Keep posted to here and on the Rock n Needle blogpage, so be sure to keep checking back for more updates!!

I love the overall result of the photography, make up and styling of the garments by Esvie Creatives http://esviecreatives.co.uk/
